Physics Pendulum Lab Report Essays
Physics Pendulum Lab Report Essays Physics Pendulum Lab Report Paper Physics Pendulum Lab Report Paper In this experiment, only different masses will be used n order to prove that mass does not have an effect on the time it takes for a pendulum to go through a period. Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to determine the effect of mass on the period off pendulum. Hypothesis If the mass of the pendulum increases then the time for the swing will neither increase nor decrease because the mass does not have an effect on the period of a pendulum. Materials and Methods The materials used in this experiment are: 3 Different Masses (egg, egg, egg) Clamp String Clock Protractor With these materials, the experiment was conducted in the following procedure: ) Place the clamp to a flat surface with a string attached to it 2) Attach a egg mass to the end of the string opposite from the pivot 3) Pull the mass to the side with an amplitude of 700 4) Release the mass and allow it to swing 10 periods while timing it 5) Divide the total time by 10 in order to get the time it takes for 1 period of the pendulum 6) Repeat steps 2-5 with different masses (egg, egg, egg) Observations The results between the different masses were not all the same number however, they were close. The egg mass period took 1. 5 seconds and the egg took 1. Seconds. The egg and egg masses both took 1. 7 seconds to complete a period. Discussion and Conclusion What was expected at the end of the experiment was for all of the times between the different masses to be th e same however, this was not the case. The slight differences in time were most likely due to random and human error. During the experiment, a clock was used to time the periods in seconds. Using the clock falls under the random error category since the timing wasnt precise as it would be if a stopwatch was used instead. The other error in this experiment would be human error because the experiment had one person release the pendulum after the person timing gives the signal. The time between the signals are given and when the pendulum starts swinging could be off so in order to avoid this error in subsequent trials, the person timing the period should be the same person releasing the pendulum. Although the results between the 4 masses were different, they were only off by less than . 3 seconds. The results showed that difference in mass does not have a significant effect on the pendulum period thus, making the hypothesis for this experiment true.

Marketing- Mission statement Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2750 words
Marketing- Mission statement - Essay Example er in doing so shall take a real life situation and an internationally known company to analyse how it has used its mission statement in the various marketing management strategies and tactics. A mission statement being the statement that highlights briefly the overall direction that the company wishes to take, stands to be respected and therefore in coming up with it serious consultations should be made as it is to either sell the companyââ¬â¢s image or put it at risk forcing the management to change it at some point (Shee & Abratt 1989). The sole aim of having a mission statement is to have the direction that the company is taking clearly set out for both all the stakeholders to know and above all, understand (Leuthesser & Kohli 1997). It has to be brief and to the point giving the intended message using simple but coherent words. It gives the purpose of the company and this is the top line rather than the bottom line. This statement need also to be broad in scope as it stipulates both the short term as well as the long term intent of the company. It should resound to the clients and other people who may be in a position to deal with it and give them the reasons to do so (Knights & Willmott 1992). It is clear that the aim of a business it to make profit as the key purpose but the mission statement is to show how the company in rather general and indirect means aims at going about it. This statement has three distinct parts which are: the business statement, purpose statement and lastly the statement of values held by the company (Leuthesser & Kohli 1997). For the purpose part, the statement shows what the companyââ¬â¢s purpose is in explicit terms, the business portion indicates how this purpose will be fulfilled while the value part tells of what values are commonly upheld in the company and their contribution to the business. A mission statement as earlier mentioned need to be carefully developed to reflect the above mentioned areas with clarity. There are

Resource Concerns Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Resource Concerns - Research Paper Example Resources as a Concern in Global Strategy Customers expect value for money when purchasing a product. The manufacturer has to ensure that the customer is delivered the greatest value for money while keeping base costs as low as possible. Globally, consumers tend to behave differently as per their geographical, cultural or other tastes. In certain cases, it is possible to substitute local solutions for customers but in other situations it is imperative to use original resources. The custom furniture manufacturing business under consideration is able to sell its products given their novel form. Such a form can only be maintained when using resources that were being used by the parent manufacturing plants located in the United States. However, it must be considered that importing such resources from the United States would cost heavily and carries the additional risk of making the products uncompetitive in an already competitive market. Resources of Concern in China China is a large buy ing and selling paradise for both consumers and manufacturers. Given that China produces a large number of manufactured products, it is highly likely that a number of critical resources might be available in China. However, certain specialized resources might not be available and might have to be outsourced from the United States before they can be manufactured locally in China. The custom furniture business relies in large part on the use of wood (Han, Wen, & Kant, 2009) as well as other construction materials such as wrought iron, stainless steel and novelty plastics. As far as materials such as wrought iron and stainless steel are concerned, China has an ample cheap supply of these materials. However, when the issue of woods and novelty plastics is considered, the situation is altogether different. Although China has an ample supply of wood but Chinese woods such as mahogany, oak wood or birch cannot be expected to provide the same output as local woods (Chunquan, Taylor, & Guoqi ang, 2004). Chinese focus lies more towards the production of synthetic boards to create furniture while custom furniture requires original wood for the exquisite feel and taste (Lee, 2011). The issue with novelty plastics is similar since they would have to be outsourced from the United States. In turn these imports would cost the company heavily and there may even be certain trade barriers for novelty plastics. On another note, China would provide a number of different textiles and fabrics for use in furniture manufacturing. However, in order to keep the look and feel of the original furniture, it would be necessary to import specialized fabrics. In the longer run, it may be possible to manufacture these textiles inside China but initially it would cost the company heavily. Impact on Decision to Expand in China Even though the Chinese market may hold some entry barriers such as the need to import certain resources but a competitive business can still be afforded given that Chinese imports of furniture originating from the United States totals some 8.8% of overall furniture imports (Aspin 2000, 2009). If the concerned company begins business in China by importing certain resources from the United States, the cost of the produced furniture would be lower than that of imported furniture. The lower cost of other base inputs such as electricity and labor would help to offset the cost of imports. Moreover, in the longer

Sports and Recruitment for Colleges Essay -- Recruiting Process Colleg
Every Saturday, college campuses all across the nation are a buzz with activities. The football team prepares for this week?s game. The girl?s soccer team and volleyball teams play on Saturday and Sunday. The boy?s soccer team travels for an away game. Colleges and universities everywhere depend on various sports as a way of recruitment, entertainment, and physical activity for students. However, before 1972 women did not share the same opportunity to participate in intercollegiate sports. Up until 1972 there were no rules governing sexism in intercollegiate sports. Then, when President Nixon signed into law the Education Amendments Acts, part of the new law was called Title IX. This part of the new law abolished sexism in intercollegiate sports. Since its inception, Title IX has lead to giant steps in women?s sports. Understanding what Title IX is will help to understand how Title IX has helped bring on gains for all women. The Education Amendments Act of 1972 was signed into law on June 23, 1972 by President Richard Nixon (Wulf, 79). Part of this larger bill was an amendment called Title IX. This part of the bill called for an end to sexual bias in institutions that receive federal funds. Though Title IX did not have any specific correlation to intercollegiate sports, on the playing field is where it has been used most. In 1975, the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare extended Title IX?s boundaries to athletics, saying recipients of federal funds must provide ?equal athletic opportunity?(Guenin 35). Now extended to athletics, there are three major stipulations colleges must cover to satisfy the Title IX laws. These three stipulations are government set regulations. Congress never approved the po... ...rown claimed that females had the chance to equal the ratio, but failed to attempt to fill the teams (Guenin 37). Brown spent over one million dollars defending themselves in court. This money could have been used to possibly expand female?s athletics.. The school ended up losing the court battle almost four years later. Like all laws, how one interprets them determines their effectiveness. Since President Richard Nixon signed the Education Amendments Act of 1972, women?s sports have taken a giant leap. Part of this new law, Title IX, outlawed sexual discrimination in intercollegiate athletics. This gave women the necessary step to reach the same level as men. ?Women don?t have to have 50% of the varsity positions to succeed in athletics. They need equal opportunity.?(Mahoney 78). Title IX started the process of ending sexual discrimination everywhere.
